Default CD DVD Does Not Eject

Having had a problem that has baffeled me, I was looking for a forum to hopeully find an answer. I came upon this site throught an email letter from Bootlist. So here I am. Recently, I needed to install a new CD DVD drive as mine went bad. So I shopped around and found a good deal on a Liteon unit. I replaced the drive and all went well. The following day when I tried to open the tray, nothing happened. I tried ejecting it from the drive properties dialog screen but this too, did not work. As a final attempt, I rebooted the machine and when I pushed the eject button, the drive opened. However, as soon as the computer was completely booted, the drive wkould not open. It seems as though some program has locked the tray. I did numerous searches to see if anyone else has had this problem. So far I have not found any. If someone can offer a suggestion, I would be gratefull.

Thank you

If you are comfortable with opening your computer, which I'd assume you are since you installed the drive, I suggest doing so and making sure the power cable is securely inserted into the drive. Next, I want you to do the prework for this site, which can be found here:

http://www.pchelpforum.com/hijackthi...a-prework.html

Post your logs and if somebody doesn't come to examine them, I'll PM someone from the security team to look over your results. This way, we can narrow it down to a hardware problem rather then malware.

Also, I would like you to go here:

The same thing happened to my Lite-on dvd recorder drive. It worked well for at least 3-4 monthes, then, all of a sudden it stopped ejecting completely. I still don't know what's wrong with it. This happened about 5 weeks ago.
