Welcome to PCHf sifter!

What jumper do you have it set to, you should put it to master if it is your only one.

Some (much) older CD drives need proprietary drivers, otherwise they usually get picked up unless the jumper settings aren't quite right, as upgrader says. Is it a new drive to your system, or has the problem just come up on your existing drive?

Yes...much older CD drives curtin... You're talking about DOS/Windows 3.1 days...very unlikely to be the cause of the issue this time....nice suggestion though

Welcome to the PC Help Forum Sifter...can you please tell me what items the yellow ! is next to?

Thanks sifter.

The problem appears to be a confliction between the 2 drives. As a troubleshooting method, can you please turn your computer off, open the side of the case, and unplug one of the drives...turn it back on and see if the problem is still there...
If it's gone, turn the computer off, try the same thing with the other drive...and see what happens.

if the problem is gone still - then your issue most likely lies with jumper settings...and would best to change them both from Master or Slave to Cable Select.
