Question Same problem with both my DVD-RW drive and my CD-RW drive!

Hi,
What happens is when I try to open a CD/DVD in either my DVD-RW drive and my CD-RW drive I get an error message saying "Please insert a disk into the drive", even though there is one in there. If I leave a CD/DVD in either drive and then reboot my machine they are then recognised and can be played/run, but when I take them out and put in another one the "Please insert a disk into the drive" error message comes up again.

The drive specs are:
CD-RW drive: LITE-ON LTR-16102B
DVD-RW drive: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello mf05

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Try disconnecting the Lite-on for a moment and see if you get the same message on re-boot and insertion of a cd.

Hi Wolfeymole,

Thanks for your reply - it was helpful. Anyway I managed to get both drives working, however now when i put a DVD in either one it will play for a couple of secons and then an error message comes up saying there is a proble with the application (I have tried playing a DVD in all my media/DVD players on my pc - e.g. WinDVD and Windows Media Player 10).

Thanks
