Hi all, i have a problem that is giving me a headache. I cant get my DVD drives to show up in the bios at all. Working fine in windows. But i am wanting to change my OS and cant, because it wont boot from disc. All the jumpers are set correctly and my HD drives are all present and correct in the bios. The drives are both sony dvd rom rw DW-G120a-BC. I have unplugged one of them incase it was a conflict but same problem. Motherboard LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT.

Hope someone has an idea

Hello The demon,

Welcome to PCHF.

What BIOS are you using (AMI, PHOENIX?). With most BIOS, CD-ROM drives will not show up here. You must set your Primary Master/Slave, Secondary Master/Slave to auto. They will then be detected when switching your PC on. The only thing you need to select in BIOS is your bootup sequence, which would need to be set to for example: 1.Floppy, 2.CD-ROM, 3.HDD.

Hey Demon,

Quick question, does your PC loose the current time when it has been left off for a long time?

Ahhh, Demon, that's what I like to see, somebody who already has a good working knowledge of this stuff!!

Some more questions I'm afraid. Does anything at all save in BIOS? Have you ever tried to flash the BIOS? Can you boot to floppy? Finally, what OS do you currently have, and what OS are you about to install?

The Bios saves the Hdd'S fine both on primary IDE.Its secondery where i have a prob. No, i have never tried flashing the Bios, Ive never done one yet.Seems too dangerous to me.The OS is where your gonna say"Theres yer prob m8y". But i dont think it is, Its vista RC1 ultimate 64. But surley that woulndt affect the Bios. And all i want to do is go back to XP 64. If it does affect the Bios how am i gonna get back? Oh forgot one, I dont have a floppy drive anymore.
