Hey davep739!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Are the drives detected in your BIOS?
You can enter the BIOS tapping F2 or Delete during the start-up of your computer.

Otherwise you perhaps need to set the jumpers. On of the drives should be master, the other should be slave.

Get back if you need more help on this, and let us know how you get on.

Blue

Hi Dave, one thing you may want to check is the DMA mode...and set them to DMA if available, and not PIA only.
To do this..goto...

Start -> Control Panel -> System Properties -> Hardware -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers

Double click on Primary IDE Channel -> Advanced Settings -> Make sure Transfer Mode is set to DMA if available

Same for Secondary IDE Channel.

Hey Dave!

Is the drive being recognized in Windows Device Manager or Drive Management?

You can access the Device Manager right-clicking 'My computer', go to 'Properties', and find Device Manager on the hardware tab.

Drive Management can be found right-clicking 'My computer', click 'Manage'.

It's possible that your drive has yet no letter and that could be the reason that it's not seen in 'My computer'.

Hi Blue,
Found the problem, and its now sorted,Everything just fine now,it was the NEW ASUS DRw that was bust, not bad tho as i bought it brand new from a main dealer, they just gave me another one, which i loaded in,and it runs great. So it goes to show not all new stuff is serviceable,if in doubt take it back and get it replaced.....
Thanks for the help
Dave
