Ok, my DVD RW drive is having trouble reading movie DVD's. It will load game CDs, music CDs and DVD-R's but for movie DVD's my computer slows down, nothing will load and I hear clicking like it's trying to load coming from the drive. I've checked the region codes, and everything else, but nothing seems to work.

Sometimes the movie will load but skip, other times it won't load at all. I've talked to a Dell technician 3 times already and they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. One guy installed PowerDVD thinking it was a software issue, which it wasn't. One had me do a PC Restore after backing up everything...still nothing. Finally, the third guy tried updating the firmware for my drive, but I had already done that.

So, I gave up and thought maybe the lens was dirty and went out and bought a Memorex CD/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner. I was wondering with this screw up my DVD+-RW drive by putting this lens cleaner in the drive? Or should I try something else before using the lens cleaner?

I apologise that noone has responded to your post earlier, but I'm also very glad to see that you've come to us after Dell...shows us that we must be doing something right

Anyway...in regards to your question - the lens cleaner will definatly not screw up your dvd drive...and i was going to suggest it if you hadn't already thought of it.

Let us know how you get on, and if it doesn't work we should be able to give you a bit more of an idea as to what is happening.
