Default Jumper Settings 2 Opticals and 2 SATA's

Hi Guys:
Just had a question that wasn't answered in the manual regarding jumper settings.
I'm building a new system and the hard drives are SATA and therefore connected to their ports. The floppy drives is connected to an IDE port, and that leaves my drive. I'm using 2 drives, the Sony DRU810A and an older Sony CDRW/DVD. Both will be connected to an IDE port with nothing else on the port. How do I set the jumpers?

Hi, if you only have the one IDE channel then the drive should be set to master and the CD to slave or cable select. It's not an ideal situation at all tho to have a hard drive on the same channel as a cd rom and you may run into problems. May even be worth getting a PCI IDE expansion card to provide an extra channel for the cd rom..

No, you misunderstood me. Both of my hardrives are connected to SATA ports on the mobo. I just want to put the two opticals on one ribbon cable and on IDE port.

Oh, ok. You can put both of the optical drives on that IDE with no problems.

Hi Bill, if you set both the drives to Cable Select (CS) this will work perfectly fine. Or you can set one to Master, and one to Slave.
