CD/DVD Rom - [Resolved] installed new dvd rom and now having probs with pc bootup posted in the Hardware forums; i have just installed a new dvd rom and when i start the pc it says boot failure insert a bootable disk. so i did and now it is trying ...

Question [Resolved] installed new dvd rom and now having probs with pc bootup

i have just installed a new dvd rom and when i start the pc it says boot failure insert a bootable disk. so i did and now it is trying to start windows but gives me an error message saying

KERNEL_DATA_IMAGE_ERROR
Technical info:

how can i get past the prob of it doing that? HELP pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did you connect the drive? To wich IDE channel , as primairy or master and did you also set the jumper of the drive correctly?

How are youre all drives being recoqnized in youre bios?

i installed the dvd rom on the cd rom ide as a slave and my hd is hooked up as master in my coms it shows the dvd as a secondary cd drive and it all looks good but it wont let me boot up when i do try it gives me the error message above after booting from windows cd

It looks like a wrong cable location/jumper setting or maybe a bad sector on youre HD.

Double check if everything is connected right and run a diskcheck , maybe that helps.

But it looks like Hengis was also on to something so maybe he has a better idea.
