My D Drive is gone, and i have read one thousand forums, and ive tryed a few pretty detailed things, 18 hours later and the end result is, My D Drive is still gone.. I dont want to dump the system !!

When did your drive disappear? Was it after an install/uninstall of something. or did it just dissapear without doing anything? I assuming your D drive was your CD drive?

Yes it was the disk drive. This is a dell inspiron lap top. the drive is 40 gb made by fujitsu,mht204Oat. The computer says the device works correctly but (my computer ) says its not there at all ?? also i cant reinstall software because ( obviously ) it cant read the disk !!

I really need help with this, i live on this lap top for school.

I need to burn projects onto disk, Ect, Ect.

Please help.

What is youre O.S.? If you have XP , then you can uninstall the drive in youre device manager (rightclick "my computer/properties/hardware/device manager) , rightclick on the drive , select uninstall and then reboot and let windows install the drive again.

i even read ten thousand forums.

i also downloaded registry machanics and fixed all my registrys.
