CD/DVD Rom - cd-rom not working in win98se posted in the Hardware forums; Hi. My CD-ROM drive is not working, It is a Samsung Drive. I checked the Connection, the BIOS and the OS settings I can think of. Please help...

Default cd-rom not working in win98se

Hi.

My CD-ROM drive is not working, It is a Samsung Drive. I checked the Connection, the BIOS and the OS settings I can think of. Please help

Could be that your jumpers are not set correctly. What configuration do you have the drive installed in? Is it plugged into IDE2 on its own or do you have it connected as a slave of IDE1 ? If you need help deciphering this just shout

well, i'm pretty sure it's secondary master with the floppy secondary slave. but the thing is it was working before and suddenly stopped working.

I think you should re-check your cabling...the floppy shouldn't be on the IDE channel, it has its own connector that plugs into the motherboard.

Also, replace the cable to the CD-Rom drive.
