I have a problem with the system failing to recognize both the cd and the dvd drives. This morning I was using the cd so it was working then I decided to connect the dvd drive (previously not connected) so I could use both. Initially, the dvd drive was not recognized so I checked the cable connections and decided to switch the cables to see if that would help then the system recognized the dvd not the cd so I put in a new cable. Recognizes the dvd not the cd, changed the connections same result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A little confused about your cables. Are they both on the same IDE cable?

Do you know about setting master and slave jumpers? If not and you need help in this area it would be easier if you posted your drive details ... brand name ...
