Default [Fixed] My DVD has gone crazy PLEASE HELP URGENt

hi guys i'm new to the forum but someone please help me quick! before i destroy my dvd drive..
here's the deal.. it worked fine (always) until today when it started opening and closing the tray alone...sometimes really non-stop...sometimes it stops a couple of minutes and starts again (driving me insane). its not virus or trojan i checked..
so any ideas what it could be?
it's really weird as far as im concerned and ive seen weird stuff.. thx all

To make sure it's not software in anyway try to pull off the IDE cable to the drive but leave the power plugged in. See if you can push the button on the front of the drive to open the tray when the IDE cable is disconnected, the tray should still function without the IDE cable. If so, run the machine that way, if the door pops open with the IDE disconnected then you know it's not software, then the drive could be broken.(turn youre comp off and remove the powercable before removing/pluging in cables)
