Hi all,

I just bought a new PC which I upgraded to Windows XP, Pentium 4. However, I used back my old CDROM which is about 4 years old. When it was used with my old PC (Win 95, pentium 1), it works just fine. But now, it seems to have problem reading certain CDs or sometimes I have to re-insert a CD to make it work.

Do you all think there is any issue with the compatibility here or any other suggestions?

4 years old, probably not a problem with the compatibility of the CD-Rom drive, more likely dirt inside. Consider cleaning with a special disk, check the cabling on the drive is all secure and connected properly and if all else fails buy a new one or even pick up a new(er) one off of one of those famous auction sites
