| CD & DVD Burning - CD drive wont read disks I just made. posted in the Hardware forums; So as title says, I insert a blank disk, format it, then copy/paste stuff i want into the disk, then I remove it once it's done and put it back ... |

CD drive wont read disks I just made.
So as title says, I insert a blank disk, format it, then copy/paste stuff i want into the disk, then I remove it once it's done and put it back in, in My Computer(vista) it shows that I have 1gb outta 4gb left on the disk, yet when I rightclick>explore, nothing is there. Brand new computer with brand new CD drive, what's wrong? |

I'm an idiot, sorry. Apparently if you click the popup saying "Preparing to eject" it just stops preparing and forcefully ejects it. When i let it go normally by itself, the disk works fine. Sorry for the unneeded topic, I was a bit freaked, and now I realize I was just impatient. |

What I do not understand in your first post is why do you format a dvd?
I have been burning dvd's for about six years, and I have never formatted one yet. On rewritable dvd's I have erased them, but which is not formatting them. Can you explain what you are doing...

uh, When i insert disk i click computer and then the CD drive to open the disk itself, however, it says I must format it first.
It asks for a name and stuff.

You will be better off using a proper burning app to burn dvd's cdr's with. I use and recommend both Nero and ImgBurn, ImgBurn is the best of the free ones. ImgBurn How to use ImgBurn Guides.
