Hi Steph-- Welcome to PCHF -- Sorry for the delay in responding to you... Our website was redesigned 2 days ago-- and we are just getting used to the new layout/tools.

Since your post includes a mini-dump file--I will PM our resident BSOD expert-- MadMonkey...

in the meantime-- your Driver Scans look OK really, nothing major there ...except your Realtek Audio Driver-- which could be related to your CD-burning issue.

Have you had any crashes-- "Blue Screens" other than the one?

If so try to find any other minidumps available-- the more dumps Mad has the easier it is to pinpoint the problem.

Hi and thank you for responding,

That is the only minidump file in the folder so i can't help anymore on that one unless there is another file some where as i got that from c:windows/minidump.

i just had a reply back from the other forum who asked me to disable the vobid drive that is showing which i done this is the post i recieved and my answer to that post

post recieved
What I was saying is that it appears that you have a software application (Vobid) which is using a folder on the hard drive as a make believe cdrom drive (more complex than this but suffices)
If you go to my computer, lets say you have one optical drive your CDRW drive itself, but in my computer you see two .
If you right click on one of them and choose properties => Hardware (tab) you will see a list of drives
One of the items you will see is Vobid Instant Drive CD SCSI CDROM Device

Probably the easiest thing to try at this point is to select it and choose properties
There should be an option to Use this device, / disable this device
Choose to disable it.

Or go to control panel / system / hardware /device manager
Under DVD /CDROM drives select the Vobid and right click and choose disable

Also go to start/ run and type msconfig and hit enter
On the startup tab, look for instant drive and uncheck it .
Apply and restart.

Now try your burner .

Basically the issue here is that the make believe memory addresses being used by the VOBID make believe drive are not being properly remapped since they are in fact hard drive addresses which are already being remapped to be make believe cdrom drive addresses and this causes a problem when the real cdrom tries to use them.

If you had added new memory (RAM) I would suggest that your first action be to remove it , or remove all but one stick of RAM and see if it solves the problem.
But with a Vobid drive I say disable it first and see if that solves the problem.

post that i replied

i done what you said regarding the vobid drive and i looked in the msconfig and could not find anything regarding instant drive so i restarted the pc anyway and it shut down but the lights on the drive kept coming on then off and the power light was on and the light which flashes for the hd was stable (on) so pressed the power button for 10 secs, left it for a few secs then powered back on but the same thing happened on the forth go it powered up and it came up with the system config utility but i didn't change anything in there, any ideas on what happened.
I have gone into event viewer and there was 3 errors in system, i have copied and pasted them below

1st one

Hello Stephanie, welcome to PCHF.

Please can you download and install the following from Microsoft, which should resolve both your sideBySide errors, and any further Blue Screens: Download details: Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)

There is also a malware variant of sideBySide, so if this does not resolve your problem (it should), could you follow PCHF Prework on my signature for a member of security to analyse further. Can you also make sure that you are only running one security application at a time. I can see that your running Zone Alarm on your PC which also appears to be in conflict with another application.
