Hi thanks for all your help so far.

ok i restarted the pc but when it was coming back up it took about 5 mins to start back up (like it was thinking about what to do)

and i also managed to burn a cd without it restarting i haven't tried anymore just in case it was a one off

sorry forgot to add i am running window xp home sp2

It may take a bit for one of the Security Team to check your log--
We don't want to adjust anything else-- until they do
...because if it is an infection--the Bug may just reset everything again.

Stephanie-- do you have a Windows Installation CD ?
The reason I ask is that I suspect that you may have corrupted System files-- if you have the CD (retail or full OEM) we can do a repair installation-- and fix them without disturbing the rest of your system.
