Default burning disaster

please help... I'm about to lose my mind here
i've been having this problem with my DVD/CD writer or maybe even Windsows itself where I can't burn a DVD. Very often I use MPEG videos to burn onto a DVD. So far I have used Windows media Centre to burn the DVD. For some time i thought that it was Windows, so I've downloaded another free software for burning DVDs. The same problem occured - an error comes up and the DVD is not completed. i thought that it was the burner itself, so i have tried burning a data CD. That worked just fine.
Is it possible that the burner may be broken, or is this a problem with the PC itself?
Please help...

Thanks in advance
Iza

I'm using a HP computer with MS windows Media Centre operating system. So the probram that I use for burning is th one provided by media centre. I have also tried using CDBurnerXP. the same problem happens with either program. With the CDburnerXP there is an error message that pops up. This error states "device error 336130 could not write to disk (LBA:16 length:32) Invalid address for write"
The driver I'm using is a standard CD/DVD writable that came standard with the computer. The model is ST3200822AS. the computer processor is 3700+AMD Athlon 64 processor with 1.0GB RAM and 200GB hard drive.
I hope this information will be helpful to you... thanks for responding and I hope that you will be able to help me out
Iza

I had the same model DVD Burner and the burner just out of the blue broke! so i took it apart cleaned the laser and did every thing i could to get it to work it wouldn't read DVD's it wouldn't burn DVD's the only thing it could do was read and burn CD's. The problem is the DVD burner you did nothing wrong these DVD Burners are no good they are useless after about 30-80 burns it quits. It's the laser they stop reading and writing properly. To solve this problem you can replace the laser witch it quite easy but it well cost you about $30-$70 and it might just last another 30-80 Burns and quit again you should just go and buy a new DVD-RW they are better and if you get one with a brand name like Sony, Toshiba, or HP or one that can light scribe there normals good ones. Sorry but the only way you can fix it with paying a lot it just getting a new burner

I am having a similar problem. I have a Lite-On LH-20A1L DVD multi recorder. I am using CDBurnerXP. The error that I get is device error 336130. Could not write to disc. LBA: 1016704 length:32. Invalid address for write. 0x052102. I have been having trouble using Nero Vision 5 that came with my Nero 8 Ultra and even AVS Disc Creator. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I have searched all over the internet for a solution, updated firmware, I am totally at a loss. When I am testing and I try to burn 2 files, one avi and one mpeg2 to a Philips DVD+R disc, it works, everything is fine and plays normal. But when I try to do a whole disc, maybe with almost a whole gig left over, it still won't work. I'm going crazy here. Please help.

Iza I have just researched some of this and those DVD disks maybe incompatable as in Verbatim DVD+R 16X.Could you try a diffrent brand?

Also try turning down the write speed is DMA enabled or disabled on this drive?
