I bought a memorex DVD multi with lightscribe (RW) ( model # MRX-530L-16) just a few days ago. It burns dvd's and cd's very well, but the lightscribe only barely works. It only prints text very faintly and it does not print any of the image. I am up to date on all of my versions of software and i am using Nero that came with the drive. Have I bought a piece of junk or is it user error? Please help a frustrated newbie

I am using Verbatim Lightscribe DVD+R 4.7 GB and my cd's are cd-r 700 mb memorex non-lightscribe

Hey slowme, can I just confirm that it's the Verbatim Lightscribe cd's that you having problems with?

I tried a memorex disk that came with the burner and i got the same results That was the first disk I tried

Are the CD's lightscribe? Or is that a Typo?

those are just cd's they are not what i am trying to put the lightscribe on to I am trying to burn Verbatem Lightscribe dvd+r

Hey slowme,

Some lighscribe writers are better than others. To make sure it's not the writer, first try another brand of *lightscribe cd's* other than Verbatem, I quite liked using Infiniti when I was using lightscribe.

Also, try increasing the contrast, using the lightscribe contrast utility which can be downloaded from here: LightScribe - Downloads - Windows (you can sometimes increase the contrast even further with whatever label writing software your using).

I can't really vouch for the quality of memorex CD Writers, until you mentioned it, I thought they just made storage media, CD's, tapes, usb pens. If the above solutions do not work for you, then as a last resort you should consider sending the writer back. If you have just bought it then it will still be under warranty.

since i last posted i have tried so many different things and none of these have worked. as a last resort i called memorex, the manufacturer of my burner. 67.50 minutes later they couldn't figure it out either. the guy told me to call back at a later date and maybe by then they would have a fix. Had I paid full price for this, I would be back at the store raising "you know what" and getting my money back. Basically what it boils down to is that I have a 40 dollar dvd+r that has lightscribe it cant use. I am sorry that I have taken up your time and I apprieciate the help you have given. If any one finds any thing about how to fix this please post it. I am keeping the burner and would still like to use this function. I will check back often Until then Slow me
