Default Dvd burning

In the last two weeks I have been able to burn about 10 movies. THe other day while burning a movie this message will continue to show up, UNRECOVERABLE READ ERROR LBA 15888. I am using Nero 7 ultra, Like I said I was able to burn at one time then all of a sudden I am getting these messages through out the burning process. Funny thing is that I am able to write files to a cd- r-rw. I have uninstalled reinstalled, tried other burning programs and I am still recieving the same message. For who ever helps thankyou very much.'

Are you using the Express or full Burning ROM?

Have you tried;

1) Completely removing Nero (plus the install folder) then re-installing?
2) Trying another burning program to make sure the error doesn't relate to a hardware failure?

I uninstalled nero and even downloaded their removal tool. Tried sonic having the same problem. Last night I was able to burn a vcd on a cd-r disk. I still can not burn to a dvd disk. It is a cd/dvd combo. I did a dianostic test on the hardware and it is working. Like I said up until a week ago I was able to make or burn to a dvd disk. I even wiped out my hard drive and repartitioned it and I am having the same problem. I am wondering if the dvd part of the combo is going bad?

That was definitely my next suggestion...that the DVD laser was breaking. The final test (if possible) would be to physically move the drive to another PC and attempt a DVD burn.

It's happened to me before with no real rhyme or reason. Good luck!
