Default Faulty burner?

hi, I have recently been trying to burn cds with blank 48x sony cd-r disks with my Philips burner. When I click burn in nero the use read buffer goes slowly, but the drive doesn't sound like it is starting up or burning. The complete bar stays still and does nothing, so I closed it and put the disk back in and it is still blank. I have tried using power2go burner and it isn't burning either. This drive can read cds and dvds fine, I dunno if a cable inside is loose or somthing.
one of the error reports produced when i closed nero had this in it:
C:\DOCUME~1\Jacob\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERa590.dir00\nero .exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Jacob\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERa590.dir00\appc ompat.txt
Do you think its a faulty burner?

thanks, jake

Hello and Welcome to PCHF

There would be no cable that is loose.
Have you tried cleaning the drive with a cd cleaning kit? Possibly the lens is dirty but it sounds as if the drive is faulty in the cd burning area
