Unhappy Unable to burn a DVD-RW

Hi all, new member here so be gentle with me. I want to back-up my "My Documents" folder in its entirety but although my DVD/CD/ROM drive is shown as working correctly (it does as far as playing dvd's/cd's is concerned and I can also burn cd's no problem) but when I try to burn all my precious files to a 4.7GB DVD-RW Video/Data disc I keep getting the message "No Disc in Drive" or "Please insert a disc in the destination drive" even though there's one in there? I've tried several discs but no-go, any ideas anyone?
Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation regarding this problem.

Steve.

Hi and welcome to PCHF! What is the make and model of the drive? It might not be able to write DVDs.

Thanks,
Adam

Default Thanks Madmatt2006

Hi madmatt 2006. Checked it out and it looks like what you suggested IS actually the case - bummer! Need to back up ALL my docs somewhere secure, any suggestions? Anyone?

Regards.

Stevepa.
