Default Can't burn CDs

Ok well when I first got my laptop the CD drive was having problems, it would cut out and stop functioning (read here), so I went in and got the drive replaced and it seemed to have been working great since I got it. Everything was reading fine with no errors. Well now I'm trying to burn a disc and the thing keeps failing every time. I've tried multiple programs and tried burning completely different things from audio cds to data. Everything fails. Could this be another hardware problem or is it a software problem? Maybe I need to install drivers for the new drive (because I don't think it's the exact same one as the original)? Any ideas?

You probably do need the drivers, if a disk came with the drive then you should install the driver from the disk, if it didn't then we will find you one. What is the make and model of your drive?

No, it didn't come with a disk.

The model says TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-L532M.

Ok, I think I've found a driver for it. Download this: http://www.tsstorage.com/tech_e/cdromdre.exe. Run it and then you should be able to burn cds!

Thanks,
Adam

Hmm. You're sure that's it?

In the readme it has a bunch of models that it says it applies to and mine is not listed.

It also says "This device driver does not support writing ability."

You should contact where you got it and ask them for a driver. They will probably tell you to contact the manufacturer but it is worth a shot. The windows driver cannot write disks and that is what that "This device drvier does not support writing ability is about".

Good luck,
Adam
