Default [Resolved] Pc not recognizing cd burner

For some reason windows xp has suddenly stopped recognizing my SONY CRX310S cd burner. There is no sign of it when i go to my computer and when i try to burn a cd with nero or other burning software. When i go into device manager there is a circle with an exclaimation mark beside the cd burner. I ran a hardware check for my burner in the pc boot menu aswell as a cables test and everything seems fine. Could give me some advice?

Thanks

Remove the CD drive from the Device Manager and reboot forcing Windows to rediscover it.

Next...Go back to the Device Manager
Go to the the CD drive
Right click on the CD drive
Click on Properties
Click on the Driver Tab
Click on Uninstall.

Before, you just made Window re-recognize the CD Drive.
Now, you will reload the drivers, in case they have become damaged.

Good Luck...

OK, let's review -
Your physical cable and connections are good
Your device is recognised
Your drivers are freshly installed.

Next step - At the bottom of this message is a link reading "XP System File Checker".
Click on that link and follow the direction you will find there.

Good Luck
