CD & DVD Burning - Problems with my optical drive posted in the Hardware forums; Should I just JANK it out the cords??? Its pretty stuck in there....

Hi lennart.

Yeah i wouldn't yank TOOOO hard but those cables tend to fit in pretty snugly. Give it a gentle wiggle lengthwise to coax it out if it's really tight

My power supply is in the way of my fingers. well I will try gently but firm.

Well now I have tried that and it still dosent work. Someone even lent my theirs and it didnt work either.
Now Iam getting really frustrated.
Any other ideers????
Oh and I have been in contact with Toshiba, and they said that they dont make optical drives.

If no driver works on that cable I'm starting to think there might be a problem with the IDE conroller or even the plug going to the power supply.

Try swapping out the IDE Cable, putting the optical drive on a different controller and try a different connector from the power supply. (if the drive light blinks when you turn on your PC then power is not the problem.)

Our apologies for the slow replies. As for myself I can't be here every day but sometimes we need to wrap our brains around what seems like a simple problem after ruling out the more obvious solutions.
