Default Blank media problem...'blue screen of death'

Hey guys, (sry if this question is already posted, have looked and couldn't find)
Basically my dvd burner plays proper dvd/cd's but as soon as i put a blank one in the computer crashes. now and again it'll work, but 99% of the time it won't... Things i've done are: re-seating dvd burner and checked the cables, updated driver, tried different software; all to no avail
I even just baught a new external dvd burner, which worked for a week or so but now even that one has the same problems...
some kind of hardware error?...cheers for help

Spi11er:

Go to My computer, and in the address bar, type C:\WINDOWS\Minidump

Attach Mini012507-02.dmp in that folder to your next post.
