Default [Fixed] Playback problems....curious

Clearing some HD space by burning files onto DVD (Hyundia 8x DVD-R) burn goes ok but PC they were burned on won't play them back, here's the strange bit, now a bit desperate ('cause I'd deleted the files from my HD) I tried these discs on 4 different machines with no problems and perfect playback!
Any answers, solutions or help appreciated

Hello Naldo,

Welcome to pchf.

Some questions:

What type of files are you trying to play back (MPEG, AVI, MOV)?
What application are you trying ot playback with (Windows Media Player)?
What error message do you get when you try to playback?

Hi madmonkey

What type of files are you trying to play back (MPEG, AVI, MOV)?
All of the above plus trying to read .doc & .txt files

What application are you trying ot playback with (Windows Media Player)?
Windows Media Player, as stated discs play ok on other machines.

What error message do you get when you try to playback?
No error messages but the drive shows as if there's no disc present.

Can you read other writeable media on the same drive? It's sounds to me like a hardware problem as apposed to a software problem. Make sure your not using cheap 'n' nasty writeable cd's. Also try using a cleaning disk on the drive itself.

Yes, other branded media burned using the self-same drive running fine no probs.

I'm using Hyundia 8x DVD-R discs, first time I've used them, thought they would be ok. Had too many bad experiences using unbranded media.

Think I'll burn one of these discs tonight using another PC then try to play it on mine, maybe my drive is a bit sensitive to this brand, funny how it burns them ok though?

Many thanks

Naldo
