Default [Answered] cd to dvd burning

i'm considering upgrading my cd burner to dvd in order to burn longer video.
are there any cons to doing this??
considering that i've never installed hardware should i even attempt it??
what dvd buning hardware would you recommend??
software???

Hello Zen, and welcome to PHF.

As a hardware technician, I personally don't think my job, especially when it comes to upgrades is particularly hard. Upgrading a CD player for example is normaly, just 4 screws to hold the CD drive in place, a power plug and IDE cable. It's that easy. As soon as you boot with your new DVD-RAM drive, Windows will pickup your new device automatically. I cant think of any disadvantages to this kind of upgrade.
