Default No Play?!

I know this may seem like many of the other topics, and for this i apologise, but none of the other scenarios are exactly like mine, so here goes.

I have just burned a dvd movie that i downloaded onto a 'Verbatim advanced AZO+ DVD-R, 16X, CERTIFIED, 4.7gb' but it wont play in my dvd player, which is a sanyo, not sure on age (5yrs possibly), it just comes up with a message "NO PLAY", just a bit stumped, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter5 and welcome to PCHF,
A lot of the older DVD players sometimes refuse to play DVD-Rs. I dont thing it would be to do with the disc or the PC. Does it say anything in the manual of your DVD player about if it plays CD/DVD-Rs. Does the movie play on your PC ie:through windows media player?
Good Luck!

Hi Peter,

The reason you can't play the dvd is because your dvd probably doesn't support the DVD-R format...

That being said, I'm not sure on your laws in the UK regarding 'backing up' of DVD movies. I know in Australia this is sitll not allowed (we're allowed to do this with our music CD's). But just to be safe, I'm closing the thread. Good luck
