Welcome to the forum.

It could be that your CD laser has gone kaput! It has happened to me Can you try the drive in another PC to be sure?

I don't have another computer to use, but when I installed Acronis TrueImage on here, it asked me if I wanted to make a Rescue Disk. I made that just fine on a CD, so I'm thinking that it's something other than the laser. Thank you for your reply though.

Do you know yourself what this is:

C:\XPHOME\Doug.exe

If not, then please upload it here:

http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html

And post back with the scan results please.

Hi dwmlr, when you say "does not burn cds" do you mean, it burns coasters? or it just doesn't start to burn the cd?

Joe5:
C:\XPHOME\Doug.exe is my edit explorer.exe file. I don't believe that this has anything to do with my problem because it's been like this for months now. The scan results are already attached. Thank you for your time.

GaRHaR:
With Windows It starts to burn the CD, but the message at the end says: "Cannot complete the CD Writing Wizard. There was an error in the process. The disc you have attempted to write may no longer be usable." The message I get with Nero is: "Burn process failed at 48x (7,200 KB/s)."
I will attach the log file from Nero in hopes that it will help you help me.
Thank you for your time and patience in this matter.

Sincerely, Doug

Another question while you post the Nero log file...
Are you trying to burn with different brand cds? or just the same brand?

It could be the Plextor drive doesn't like particular brand...Plextor is known for it's quality products, and may not like to use cheap and nasty cd's.
