Hello, this is my first time trying a rewritable DVD disc so I grabed a RiDATA (Ritek) DVD+RW 4X 4.7GB and I places in my sony dvd recorder (on TV not PC). and recorded a 5 minute period. At the beginning the DVd recorder said "formatting disc" (becuase it was brand new i guess) then after it recorded I thought I would try earasing it now...So i pop it in my LG DVD drive and for the first time use nero 7 and choose full earase. After 17 minutes the burnt part goes away and it is blank again and so me being all so happy pop it back in the sony dvd recorder and try recording something and it says "disc can niether be recorded nor played" (a messege that apears when the DVD recorder cant read/write the disc). So im like what the....!!?!?!?! I try and burn some data with it on the pc and it works...so i earase again and still didnt work. Can someone tell me why a multi-use RW dvd is turning into a single use disc? Is it the media brand? (RiDATA not being that popular...it was only $2).

hi ali2005, i think is because your sony dvd recorder is not compatible with re-writeable disks after they have been used once, but i think its best you wait for a staff members help but i will search the net and try to find an answer to ur problem and will get back to you
