himy dvd burner will not burn dvds but will burn cds. also it will read all cds but no dvds without skipping. device manager looks okay. I have reinstalled software and also reinstalled windows. can someone help me?

Sounds like the dvd lens is damaged or dirty. (they have separete lenses for cd and dvd) You could try a cleaning disc to get it to work again but there is also a change it is damaged and needs to be replaced.

hi there thanks for previous reply For kicks I decided to take the burner back where it came from because it was under warrentee. They tested it and stated the dvd that they burned was okay and that it played as well. They gave me the disk they burned I played back in the computer and did not work. but the dvd will worked on any other dvd player. So Im wondering if they are pulling the wool over my eyes or something else is happening. thanks again and any other help would be appreciated.
