Exclamation [Answered] CD Burning problems...

Hi all im new to this forum and i have been having problems making cds. While using Nero to create CDs the burning process freezes even with the speed reduced and the cd drive quits responding and i have to use ctrl alt del to recover my pc. I have just downloaded Acustica cd burner and it does not recognise any cd device. I have checked all my settings and everything seems fine. Can this be fixed or is the drive faulty?
Thanks

Hey Gigi,

Should have said Welcome in your other thread. So first of all Welcome to PCHF. We have a terrific team of techs here, and I am sure we can help you to figure out what the problem is.

Is this a new problem? Were you able to burn CDs before? With Nero? If not what program were you using? Does the CD drive show any errors in Device Manager? Does the computer recognize the CD drive? Can you play CDs, games, music, etc?

Your answers to these questions will help us figure out what may be going on with your burning issue.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Thanks and this site is helpful already in my 1st hour of registering.
Yes i could burn cds before and using nero. Devive manager shows no problems and the drive is recognized and i can play other cds in the drive. It just seems to freeze during the burning process.

:cheesy: We aims to please mistah! LOL

OK, let's rule out malware then, can you please follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, and post the resulting two logs back here. Then we can see where we are at.

Look forward to your reply,

Hi, uninstall the burning software, re-boot and re-install it again. Also, you may want to check your virtual memory size...to up it do this:

Right click on My Computer and select properties > Advanced > Performance/Settings > Advanced tab > Virtual memory/change > make sure that the virtual memory is set to "system managed size" click "set" then ok and re-boot.
