Its making me mad! I bought a DVD-Cd writer super multi from Lg, the model is this one:

GSA4163BB

In general I tried burning in the software that cames with de dvd and it burns just perfect and fast
For some strange reason Nero wont recognize the writer, everything is ok in? "my pc", the driver is ok.
Nero tell me something like "the writer is being used by another application code 15" or similar, then nothing, I had tried to test the speed of the dvd but it sais that.
The most strange thing is that I can burn Cd and CdRW but I cannot setup the writing speed (I have an Hp writer too and I can set up the speed on a split windows) So, I really dont understand whats wrong with this.

My PC:

Pentium 4 celeron 1.7Ghz
128 Ram DDR
Win 98 se
DVD is IDE.

I will really appreciate your help, I dont want to change to XP ?cause my ram is very little.

Genius! I was trying to find that driver for several minutes (not much internet to spend,)
I?ll try that. I hope it works because now I am thinking that perhaps is a problem that my DVD is not recognized by W98SE? itself because it says is a "cd-rom". If this does not works I iil change to XP and see what happens, I?ll let you know my luck

Nope, it didnt do anything special, I update it correctly but windows 98 still thinks that de device is a Cdrom writer Seems I have to change the system BUAAA!!!

Better wait a little before going to xp , that might not go very well with 128mb.

Do you have both the cd and the dvd writer installed at the same time?
If so try it with just the dvd.
And is the dvd set as master or slave?
It is also a good idea to re-install nero after installing a new writer.

PS; it's better to make a new reply then to edit youre post if you have an update.
Otherwise it doesn't show on the front page that there is news :-)

:banghead: I change to XP and had no problems with Nero, it burns really fast. I think I am going to stay Xp and buy some ram in a few months. W98 dont recognize any DVD (I think only 2 and they are not sony or Lg) so, thanks anyway for your help It was really usefull (At least you thoguht exactly like me )
