Default [Information/Pending] problem with dvd drive

Can someone please help, A few days ago i used partition magic to partition my hard drive. I now have 140gb in fat 32 and 20gb in ntfs. After this my dvd re-write drive will not copy audio cds, its seems to have no problem in copying to dvd. When ever I put new blank audio disc in it doesn't recognise there is a disc present

cheers

What program are you using to burn audio CD's?

If it is Nero are you making sure that when you open the program you choose CD then AUDIO and not DVD..

Alright could you try the following:

Put a blank CD into your drive and does it popup asking you how to open the CD.
If so choose "Open writable CD folder"

Otherwise open your windows explorer and browse down to your dvd drive.

Once you have done this, drag some music or files into your DVD drive, once they are on there click on Write to CD.

If this works then at least we know that the drive is detecting CD's properly.

Could you give us the make and model number of your drive?

Do you have a CD-RW and a DVD-RW connected or just a DVD-RW?

Hmmm....

Alright try go into your Device Manager and uninstall/delete anything that is under the "DVD/CD-ROM drives" section.

Then restart your machine and it should re-install your DVD drive.

Another thing you could try is disconnect your DVD drive, turn your PC on without it, go into windows and then shutdown.
Re-connect the drive, boot up and see whether it works.

Seems like something has become corrupted somewhere along the line, might also be worth running a Regclean program to make sure that your registry is free from all errors.
