Default Bit more research

Just been reading up a little, dual layering means you can hold more on one dvd, fair enough me thinks, but is it like a mini disc, in the fact that quality goes down? Sure you fit on more data, but the quality is a lot worse? I'm confused, fill me in people!

Default Best Drive for backing up my DVD films?

Dual layer technology is very new, the drives themselves are realitivley expensive, double the price of single layer. The discs are also expensive, at the moment you can pay upto ?5 for 1 disc and I am currently paying 32pence for 1 single layer disc. For system backups this is great, holding over 8 Gb, but backing up movies??? Even Return Of The King is a single layer movie and at the moment I dont know of any dual layer ones.

The Pioneer A07 would be my choice at the moment @ ?74,it will take any media you care to choose, + or -, and burning at 8 speed. This is the most popular drive for backups as it uses similar innards to the 06, the biggest selling DVD burner. Flash updates are readily available as well.

Does this help???

By the way quality does not suffer. Each disc holds 8.4Gb and the drive is designed to burn 8.4Gb. Why should quality be a problem.
