Exclamation Dell computer problem...

Just to quickly state, I know nothing about computer parts and stuff, so i am just going to describe the problem.

Recently, well about 6 months now, my Dell computer had hard time turning on. It turned on but with ticking noises and screeching? Well, it got stuck on the DELL load screen, and sometimes if i got lucky, it would load and PC would start successfully. But if it didn't then a black screen would turn on and i'd have to turn off pc and try again. Sometimes I had to repeat this a couple times until the PC finally stopped ticking/screeching and turn on nicely.

But recently, 2 weeks specifically, the PC would get worse. I'd wait longer for it to work and the ticking/screeching continued. 4 days ago, my pc stopped making ticking/screeching noises, but instead, it made a whirring kind of noise. (Weird example - Imagine a car on park mode, but you hit the gas. Or a fan blowing loudly)

I got scared the first time it happened, so i turned it off. But then I did it again, and it wentback to ticking and screeching. Those problems took 'turns' kind of. So now 2 days ago, i just ignored the hard time turning PC on, i am just 15 so cant do much here.. Then ever since my PC made the fan/whirring noise, it started to freeze up. I would have to turn it off by the button and then try again. Took about 40 minutes for the freezing up to stop.

So then that same day, I got TWO "blue screen of death". It looked similar to this: http://technabob.com/blog/wp-content...06/11/bsod.gif

I got scared and turned off PC, and did it again. I got another Blue Screen some time later. Now i haven't used PC since those 2 days, i am on my brothers. They said its probably the hard drive or disc..

Anyone can tell me what is wrong and what to do? Thanks in advance

It seems like you have been running with a noisy cpu/case fan for six months, and it has now packed it in completely.

The error message relates to faulty ram issue as well.

It might be beneficial to your parents, to take it in to a dealer to be fixed...

My brother says its the hard drive.. i will ask one of them to take it out and then turn on pc to see if the noise continues.. but we dont have much money to take it to a technician.. thats whyi am trying to find out the direct problem so i can just focus on that

Now about the fan.. i dont think it is it but i noticed this too: As soon as i type in the pass for the pc, all works good. Noises stop, but it froze up so i had to turn it off and do it again..

I have never heard a harddrive make a noise like that for a long period of time. A week tops is the best I have ever managed to take to destroy one.

It's going to cost you money which ever way you look at it.

The ram module will probably need replacing, and if the harddrive is the problem that will have to be replaced.

The new harddrive will not have the OS recovery partition on it either, unless Dell supply new drives with it on.

Fans are pretty cheap though...

So how can i be SURE what the problem is? I hear if you buy a part and put it in computer you can't return it, and i am not in the position to waste any money.
