Default New case, new PSU.

Hi all!.

I'm back again!, with a few more questions...

I plan on buying this new PC case:

Aspire X-Discovery Computer Case - Black

With this PSU:

x-power psu

(scroll to the bottom, its the x-power 700w)

I just wanted to be sure that this case will fit my current mobo(although i think it will). also i wanted to be sure that the PSU (because its 700watt) wont like, cause it to blow up in a big cloud of smoke, lol.

This is my current pc:

Compaq Presario SR1280UK Desktop PC - Product Specifications

and this is my current pc's motherboard:

HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, PTGD1-LA (Puffer)

Like i said i'm quite sure that my motherboard will fit the new case, its just the PSU that has me worried a little. but i'd really appreciate it if someone more experienced than me checked both over just to make sure.

Thank you so much!.

Your motherboard will fit in there. You can have as big PSU as you like but it wont blow up if you have too much. But:

Dont get the XPower PSU, it is not a very well known make and a PSU is not something you want to skimp on as it could render all your componenets useless if it fails, please get one from a reputable brand like: thermaltake, silverstone, antec, tagan, hiper, seasonic, enermax.

Which PSU do you think i could get (from Thermaltake, thats if you think thier the best from the ones you told me) for £75?, can't go any higher i'm afraid not enless i win on some horses, lol.

I dont know what qualities would make a good PSU, i just thought the higher the wattage, the better they are, lol, but after reading this:

"OVP (Over-Voltage Protection)
UVP (Under-Voltage Protection)
OPP (Over-Power Protection)
UPP (Short-Circuit Protection)"

on the x-power 700 product info page i thought it was probably worth the money, do you think there are PSU's by thermaltake which have similar protection? (and with 700watt power?)

Thanks again!.

You proabably dont need 700w, that is most likely high overkill. Please use the power supply to work out the wattage you need and reply back eXtreme Power Supply Calculator - What Power Supply Do I Need

Thermaltake arent the best i just listed it first, they are just one of the best.

Well i took the test thing, and it said i needed 705w PSU , i think thats because i had future upgrades in mind when i filled in each menu. (recall putting 10 usb ports in one :P )

If you could suggest a couple of PSU's to buy that would be great, i used froogle and found this one:

T/TAKE W0104RB 650W TOUGHPOWER BLK RETPC Global Direct

but it doesn't look like an ordinary PSU,
as most ive seen dont have the fan facing down, but opposite where the power cable is plugged into it.
