ok, I have checked my BIOS and the poer management is set-up thus,
ACPI suspend type - S1(POS)
Soft off by power button - Instant off
PME event wake up - Enabled
Modem Ring off - Enabled
USB resume from suspend - Enabled
Power on by alarm - Disabled
Power on by keyboard - Disabled
Power on by mouse - Disabled
AC BACK function - Soft off

I don't think there is a problem with this and am still sure that the problem is with the M/board front panel jumpers and the way I have them set up. I however still can't see the problem with these yet. Like I said I have the touch panel power cable inserted into the PWR-LED socket of the M/board which must be wrong but is the only available 2 pin socket for this cable. This has also been the only configuration that allows me to boot the system. With out this cable connected the pc gets a couple of seconds of power as the cpu and case fan start to rotate but then the system shuts down.

Thanx Doughnuts

fair enough.

I had this issue a few years back...i found it kind of handy not having to turn my computer on when i went to a lan

turned out it was the motherboard shorting out on the case screws...but i didn't find out for a little over 2 years, and i just got used to it...

Well this was a concern of mine as the hardware supplied with the case did not contain the screws with the rubber "o" rings for the M/board. I may try to obtain some of these but I'm still not happy with the socket I have this power cable connected into.

Thanx Doughnuts

To be honest, i haven't built a computer in over 3 years that had those rubber O rings...

as long as the screw itself doesn't go over the 'realestate' as i like to call it. Each screw hole has a metal surrounding which is to protect the secitry of the motherboard...if you're withing this ring, you will be fine.
