Let us know about the question above.
Ive come across that before , its a bug in speedfan and nothing to worry about.

It should read "0" (meaning , no sensor present)

And that temp is not so bad actually for an XP3000+ , pretty normal even i think. (with normal cooling anyway) But have a look what the temp does under load.

The temp is at 59 under load. Is this good..bad?
I have bought me a new fan. It's the same as my spare one. http://www.msquared.co.uk/detail.asp...Fans&fldr=mnu3
I think I'm gonna take it to a pc guy and watch him fit it just to be sure. I don't want another cooked cpu on my hands!

Thats still not to bad for an XP3000+ , but replacing the fan and reapplying the coolingpaste might indeed help to get it down some.

Default Heatsink and Fan

That looks like a good choice, reseating it should help the temperature, I have found that in some cases the heatsink, paste and fan need a couple of days to "bed in" so just keep an eye on it. Mine sat at 56c to start with but now runs at about 43-46c normally and loaded at 48c (only a 2400 XP)

Doh!!
The new fan arrived and I took it to the repair man and it was too big for the mobo! Thats **** because they are supposed to fit all motherboards. So I have had to look for another fan. It is difficult because I don't want to get another one thats too big but many don't specify what mobos they are compatible with. I have spotted this one, looks nice and is meant to be quiet but is there anyway of finding out if it will fit my MSI KM4M-V mobo?

Default CPU fan

Hi Dogbiscuit,

Sorry about the delay, the type of heatsink and fan he you should look for is Socket A, the original one you linked to should have fitted your board by the looks of the Picture. Was the main issue size, or did it just not have the correct securing devices to attach it to the CPU?

Yes it was just too wide. It was the correct fitting for the socket but the heatsink was getting in the way of various mobo doodahs! I have ordered the above one. I couldn't find anyway of finding out for sure if it would fit my mobo, I know it's meant to fit socket A, so I'm just hoping it's not going to be to big or the wrong shape again. It should be arriving today, I'll let you know how I get on.
