hi my friend has asked me to transfer his pc componets to a new case i just wanted to know if it would be safe to leave the cpu on the motherboard while transfering it to the new case?

No problem with that, although it might be a good opportunity to have a look at the CPU and make sure that the thermal compound is still doing its job

What happens if all the thermal coumpound is lost?:cheesy: (i know it will increase the chances of overheating but what else?)
