Default need help with power supply for my case

im looking to buy a new power supply for my case and it has to be able to supply a x800 gto video card. also is there a difference between dual 12volt and single 12volt power supplies. i looked at a ASPIRE ATX-AS550W-BK 550W Power Supply. does anyone know if aspire makes good power supplies.

Hello epc51,
Sorry for te long delay in responding, :sleepy1:

As for aspire there not known for there good power supplies.

As far as the dual and up rails since 500W PSUs came on the scene, firms have been splitting the 12v line into 2 and sometimes 4. This helps the PSU to effectively use the power its given and spread it out evenly to all devices. Most rails are split down for particular uses. If you have 4 12v rails for example, 1/2 will be for the motherboard, 1 for the SLI graphics card, one for hard drives and possible one for opticals - depends if SATA is present or not.

Although it looks nice and it has plenty of good review's I would go with somthing like this
