Default [Pending] New PC Case and can't get the power button LED to work.

Hi guys been away for a while but now i'm back. Hows it hangin?

I wonder if anyone can help. I recently purchased a new Pc case and transferred all the components out my old case into the new one. I had never done anything this drastic before so was amazed when everything seemed to work perfect. The PC even seemed quicker and more reliable in the new case, perhaps this is something to do with cooling. My old case was completely clogged up with cigarette smoke and dust, including the internal fans. Now they are completely clean. However my only annoyance is that i cannot get the case's power button LED to work. There were no instructions with the case and i have none for my mboard either. I have tried guessing a few things but to no prevail. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions what i could try, or where i could obtain a manual for the mboard. Its an NEC intel Brookdale i845. I have searched and searched on the internet but cannot find any thing.

Oh yeah and i should add that i would have connected the lead that powers the LED to the same place on the mboard as the old case did, however on the new case it is a different sized connector.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Default New PC Case and can't get the power button LED to work.

Hey DrGreenthumb, nice to see you back!

If you have connected the plug at the end of the power led cable to the right "header" on the motherboard, it should just be a simple case of turning it 180 degees so that you reverse the polarity of the plug. Maybe you can post the details of your motherboard, make and model...that will help if you need further assistance

I am not sure of the make of the mboard. When i run aida32 it tells me that the mboard is an NEC computers International Intel Brookdale i845. I am not sure whether this is the board itself or the chipset. I have looked at the mboard physically but see no brand or name. i have tried the connector in every available slot on the mboard with no luck. Do you think i could have blown the bulb.

I have tried reversing the polarity like you said but it still did not work.

I ran the programme and this is what it said for the name of the board:

Board: NEC COMPUTERS INTERNATIONAL Intel i845 1.x.

Is that any help?

hmmm...I am finding it hard to find a suitable manual to download online for your board. Do you have a pdf file that came on the disk (cd) with your board that you could upload to the Forum as an attachement - I only need to see the "headers" page.
