hi everyone i'm new here. I tried to look for anything that could help me but nothing...anyway today blue screen suddendly appeared, xp rebooted and since then everytime the "windows screen" appears, the one with the bar, blue screen flashes and then pc reboots. I just have recovery cds by asus (its a laptop) and the only option I have is to format to install windows..can anyone help me plz? all other booting options eg safe mode dont take me anywhere...thank you a lot

Normally I would ask you to click the BSOD link in my signature and post the requested mini dump files, but as you are unable to get past the XP loading screen this would be pointless.

hello and thanks a lot smokey! The only think i can help you guys with it that seconds before the first blue screen crash withwindows fully operating i was surfing google and clicking on a link an avg popup came out saying the link was potentially dangerous.. I doubt the cause of all this could be a virus, since the time gap between click and crash was litterally 3 seconds..by the way, a new laptop is on its way so if i had no chance in getting windows back working again even info on how toget data back from the hdd with the help of a second working laptop would enormously helpful!! Thank you a lot in advance guys, i really hope you can help me out with this problem!

3 seconds is really all it needs to be honest, assuming this was the cause. Anything else that might have been installed or removed during that Windows session?

To stop the PC from automatically restarting during the blue screen, tap F5 during startup, and at the menu, select Disable automatic restart on system failure. Does the stop error show an error code and file name?

There are some other options that might help you here too, such as Last Known Good Configuration.

thanks madmonkey...i managed to stop rebooting continuosly and i can read the blue screen...ok its all in italian obviously (italian pc as I am ) the code at the bottom is this: *** STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000000, 0x0000001C,0x00000001, 0x804fb006)...any suggestions? is there any way I can save the data on the hdd from another computer?

Quite a common one that can describe quite a few hardware and software problems unfortunately, did it show any file name?

Do you have a model number for your laptop?

my laptop is a asus a6j and never had any problems hardwarewise. At the top it states irql not less or equal. No files mentioned..what can I do?
