Default 0xc0190036-tssysprep.dll error

I have a dell Dimension desktop using Vista premium. Two days ago a critical update came from Microsoft for SP1. I downloaded the update & when it was done the pc restarted & this is where I have the problem. It looked like it was going to boot up then this update would run, then would stop at "0xc0190036 4071/86293 (tssysprep.dll)"
I phoned Dell support & they walked me through some steps but could not get it running. I took some pictures when in the command prompt what they did. I have some valuable files, I don't want to loose them. Any help on this would be much appreiciated. Thanks

Hi

If the .dll is corrupt, download it from here.

Maybe copying the file back will solve your problem

Can you boot in to safe mode? If you can, try doing a system restore to a point before the critical update.

When I go to safe mode it gets the Microsoft logo with the greenbars coming up @ the bottom of the screen, then it goes to the update download then stops where I have 0xc0190036-tssysprep.dll error. I can't go any farther than that. I will be home after work to see if there are any other ideas. Thanks

You start from the installation CD/DVD, then press F8, and select
Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

You copy the tssysprep.dll from wherever you have it downloaded/saved, in the folder setup, located in C:\Windows\System32

PS: The slice is from my system, Windows Vista Ultimate
