Yes.. When you put the disc in as soon as it says that close it.. Then type in the sfc /scannow
Is it an XP cd or is it a recovery disk from like HP or Dell etc?

If so go back to run and type in this
C:\WINDOWS\I386\WINNT32.EXE /cmdcons

Then after that is done do the sfc /scannow

Hmm. Lets try it this way..

Go to run.. type in command when the command prompt pops up type in sfc /scannow
Thinking somthing is not right. Hopefully going through the command prompt will work

And that other prompt will not work if you do not just have a recovery disc.. Since you have the real disc that wont run

Yes you can unistall it and reboot you will have to reinstall the drivers again. DO not let Microsoft install its genereic drivers for it. When it says found new hard ware press cancel and install the drivers you have for it.

If fact let us do this..
go to the site below and run a test and post back the resutls for me...I can then see inside your pc...

Welcome to PC PitStop!

when it is done testing it will say "tech express" click that and copy and paste the numbers and letters it gives you back here
