Errrrr, this was a long thread and I missed the part where he said he did a fresh windows install making everything I said irrelevant.

new suggestion, have you tried a hammer yet, or perhaps tossing it out a window from a tall sky rise?

I also once kept getting BSOD. I tried every ram test out there and it always showed 100% good. Drove me nuts. I finally went out and bought some name brand ram (Kingston) with the intension of returning it when it didn't work (even asked the sales clerk if I could return it if it didn't work) but it did work and have not had the problem since but I had that problem from day one, it didn't happen one day out of the blue.

Most likely a compatibility issue between the motherboard and the brand of memory that was onboard at the time maybe. A lot of motherboard manuals will list the RAM that is compatible with their boards.

well i first set out to repair, but it wouldnt work, booting from xp disc that is, and after a few failed attempts, all i could to was format and fresh install. but i did the quick one that takes like 2 secs, as the long one, everytime i tried, crashed, and i got sick of waiting, you think maybe i would need to do it again and just grit n bare it waiting for the full format to complete properly..? or does it not make a difference if u go wiht the long or short format process...
