Default BSOD - Computer keeps restarting

I keep getting BSOD when I use games and certain programs, even using youtube.
It only happens a few times a day, but it's really annoying.
The first one occured when I was using a flash program. The rest were when I was playing games and one was watching youtube.

Specs:
Asus Striker Extreme mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
nVidea 8600GT
2GB RAM
Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty

Now is keeping a cover over the case good or bad? I heard that removing the cover makes it run better, but I wanted more expert opinions.
And is using stand-by instead of turning off the power healthy or not?
...I also have a problem when starting up the computer by turning the power on. I have to go into set-up, bla bla, fix the clock and then load it normally.

But I that's extra, Im more concerned with the BSOD's.

Hi Kenny,

Everything points to faulty memory being the most likely here. Memtest is a utility you can use to test for faulty memory:

- If you have a floppy drive and a spare floppy disk, please download: http://www.memtest86.com/memt32.zip

- If not, please download, unzip and use nero to burn this image: http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.2.iso.zip

Thanks for the link, definately helped.
Im not sure exactly though what file to burn. I tried the .iso and then extracting and then burning the .img all to different CD's (I have a lot ) and then putting the cd back in the drive..but nothing seems to be getting a program to work.
I've never had to do anything like this, so it's a bit troublesome.

You boot from the CD, you don't run it while in Windows. You need to burn it using Nero's Image Burner (I think that's what it's called, at least), and then burn the ISO with that.

Then boot up and enter the BIOS, and make sure CD Drive is 1st in the boot process. Insert the CD, and it will boot from the Memtest disk.

Ah!
Well I got it working...for a few minutes. It then seemed to just stop moving. before passing 10% on the overall thing. It got stuck on the 3rd test.
