I'm trying to install AVG 8.5 and it keeps saying:
Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgwdsvc.exe: starting service....
Error 0x800736b1
Could someone please tell me whats going on and what I need to do? Thanks!

Try installing Avast: avast! - Download antivirus software for spyware and virus protection to see if you get the same error

Try the removal tool found here: AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Tools download Then try installing it again

Avg has been good for me too but its this one particular computer, with vista, that won't install on.

I used to think AVG was the one but I have to say Avast is much better and finds more and has better protection
