Default Kaspersky 2009 and Vista 64 bit

This thing is driving me nuts. I installed Kaspersky Internet Secuirity 2009 on my Windows Vista Premium 64 bit SP 1 comp and after I installed it, it started screwing up. I found that Norton (trial version, comp is new, I HATE NORTON) was not completely uninstalled even though I uninstalled it, so I cleaned out the Registry and my computer became healthy again.

The next day, EACH time I try running this installer for a game, it acts up a bit again. Sometimes this computer freezes, sometimes it doesn't.

I scanned for viruses, nothing really came up. It is like a roller coaster freezes then it is normal again.

I found out KAV might have problems with 64 bit Vista, EVEN THOUGH it says it is compatable with it.. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Should I go back with Avast Pro and Spyware Doc?

KAV is a top rated AV, that's why I don't want to uninstall it, but I will if I want a healthy computer.

~Should I install KAV on my Windows XP home edition comp? The box says it is a 3 User AV. Ill have to uninstall Spyware doctor, Avast, and Webroot Desktop Firewall, they have a few days anyway.

~Thanks so much.

Vista 32/64 is really a mess. Just hang on and start over with Windows 7.
Vista64 is NOT a gaming platform, it barely can run a handful of apps.

Try a restore point back when it was "working". uninstall Norton (hate it too).
Verify all OS patches and drivers are up to date and vista64 signed.
install the K. good luck.

Mazchazo,

Did you run the Norton Removal Tool found here?

I was going to run the Nortan Removal Tool, but I changed my mind because it did not freeze anymore, after I cleaned it out manually from the registry.

What I am saying is, like an installer I am using , it sometimes goes freezing. I just waited it and installed the game and the computer is fine but it will freeze again when using another installer or something. (not all programs or installers will freeze).
I know this installer uses a lot of space but I know it can't be that slow because I use it on a worse computer that even goes faster.

I'm gona use the Norton Removal Tool, to just remove anything else, but Norton can't be a problem because it is cleaned out of registry and removed and comp isnt freezing.

Mazchazo,

Your post left me a bit confused. Have you run the Norton Removal Tool? Did that change anything?

That Norton problem is resolved. What I am saying is when I run like a program installer application, it acts up. Like a .EXE file that installs a program. I was installing a game when it acted up. The game was installed on another comp and it wasn't a problem. The installer does freeze comp a bit because it takes space but not that severe.

Mazchazo,

Is this the same PC you are currently working a Security thread with?
