hi i thought i wouls try out comodo firewall which also comes with there anti-virus program this is package is there free version as far as i know. well i uninstalled my avast anti-virus program so not to cause ant conflicts. well to my question when i used to scn a file with the avast, say the file was around 700 mb avast would take around 5 minutes to scan the file but when i use comodo's anti-virus it only takes a split second or so. is comodo really scanning the file or am i doing something wrong. i did look at there manual. any help please guys.

Do the results come up after scanning? If they do, they it scans the file.

yes the results come up after the scan, funny thing was that before i removed avast, avast stated there was no problems but this scanner found problems. do you think this scanner could be a better one. the full name for this program is comodo internet security (free program). i did a full scan (my computer) and it only took about 20 mins or so. do you think it is scanning everything properly.

I have never personally used Comodo. I use AVG Anti Virus. As for what is "best" that is hard to say. It all depends on the scanning engine used.

Some programs target Malware, some target Spyware, others target viruses, and some target Adware. There are programs whose scanning engine targets everything. Such as: Malwarebytes Anti Malware:

i am thinking of going back to avast or maybe using avg, i really was was looking for a good firewall as i heard the windows xp firewall is not up to the job can you help me at all. i also have super anti-spyware, spybot and malewarebytes for my anti-spyware scanning.

I highly recommend AVG. As for a firewall you can try Zone Alarm, Comodo, or Outpost
